Beyond Welfare is an organization that builds communities of caring that
cross the lines of difference that usually separate people, like socio-economic status,
ability, education, and race.

So that we all have enough friends, money, and meaning in our lives, we share our
gifts as a community and we honor all needs in the spirit of friendship and compassion.

Located in Ames, Iowa, we meet with a free meal at 5:30 p.m. each Thursday, in the Fellowship Hall at Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 Sheldon Ave. At 6:30 p.m. we move upstairs for a community meeting where we deepen our friendships, share what’s new and good in our lives, and exchange our wants, needs and offers. We encourage children and teen-agers to be a part of the community, and we provide child care for the little ones. We finish promptly at 8 p.m.
